Does salt air near the coast affect a lightning protection system?
It can. Salt air and humidity can accelerate corrosion of some metals and connections. For properties near Galveston Bay and the coast, we select compatible materials and fasteners and recommend periodic inspections to check connections.
Can you protect an elevated or coastal home?
Yes. Elevated homes and homes on pilings can be protected; the design has to account for the structure's height, conductor routes down to grade, and grounding in coastal soils. We'll look at your home in person before recommending a layout.
Do you work on industrial or petrochemical facilities?
We can discuss commercial and industrial buildings. Facilities that handle flammable materials often have specific engineering and safety requirements, so we coordinate closely with your safety team and follow the facility's own specifications and procedures.
Should I have my system inspected after a hurricane or major storm?
It's a good idea. High winds, flying debris, and flooding can loosen or damage air terminals, conductors, and ground connections. A post-storm inspection helps confirm the system is still intact.
