Why It Matters

Why Florida and the Gulf Coast need lightning protection

Florida has more lightning per square mile than any other state. The Vaisala Xweather 2025 Annual Lightning Report put Florida first in the nation for lightning density, at 305 lightning events per square mile. Summer afternoons along the Gulf build thunderstorms almost every day from late spring into early fall.

A lightning protection system protects the structure; it does not replace personal lightning safety. When thunder roars, go indoors.

Along this stretch of coast, a lot of buildings stand tall and alone: beach homes and condos on the dunes, church steeples in small Panhandle towns, barns and pole sheds in timber and peanut country, and boat storage at the marinas. Older homes under big live oaks and pines have often never been protected at all.

We install lightning protection across Florida, from Central Florida and Lightning Alley to the Panhandle and the Mobile area, built to NFPA 780 with three generations of family experience behind every system.

FAQ

Florida and Gulf Coast lightning protection FAQ

Do you really work in Florida and Alabama?

Yes. We serve homes and businesses across North and Central Florida, the Panhandle, and the Mobile area. Call (682) 490-2850, Monday through Saturday, 7am to 7pm.

Is Florida really the lightning capital?

By density, yes. The Vaisala Xweather 2025 Annual Lightning Report ranked Florida first in the U.S., with 305 lightning events per square mile.

Can a lightning protection system hold up to coastal air and hurricanes?

Salt air and high wind are design factors. We choose materials and fasteners for the exposure, and a system should be checked after a hurricane, a major storm, or a new roof.

Which towns do you cover?

In North Florida and the Panhandle: Gainesville, Lake City, Live Oak, Tallahassee, Marianna, DeFuniak Springs, Panama City, Destin, Crestview, Navarre, and Pensacola.
